Fire lit next to railway line at Lynton

A homeless man was caught after allegedly lighting a fire next to a railway line in the southern suburbs.

The driver of a passing train saw the man walking away from a recently lit grass fire near Beagle Tce, Lynton, about 12.45pm yesterday.

Another witness told police the alleged offender took off his shirt and attempted to hide in the street.

A police dog located the man, 18, of no fixed place of abode and he was charged with causing a bushfire.

He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

About 15 sq-m of grass was burnt before a passing train work crew put the fire out.
