Extra rail services for AC/DC concert

Extra train and tram services will be available after the AC/DC Black Ice Tour at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night. Trains with four and three cars will complement the regular Belair, Gawler, Noarlunga and Outer Harbor line services after 10:30pm until last service.

Man struck by train

A man has died after being struck by a passenger train near Brighton station. The man, believed to be in his 60s, was hit as the train approached the station about 1.30pm. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and that they are preparing a report for the coroner.

Electric rail plan moving ahead

Expressions of interest are about to be called from companies wanting the contract to electrify Adelaide’s rail network. A $1.4 billion electric rail service is expected to be in operation by 2013, with work on the Seaford and Gawler lines due to start in 2011.

Original story TRAINS to Noarlunga are running again after a fire ignited in a city-bound engine at Marion Station tonight. Nobody was injured and a TransAdelaide spokesman said MFS fire fighters quickly extinguished the fire about 5.45pm.
